Mission Trips Testimonies!

E-mail Print PDF

Look at the following testimonies from a business man, a youth pastor and a teenager about how God has been working through American Mission Teams in Brazil!

A business man, who was a team leader, writes to us after a mission trip (July, 2011):

The prison and orphanage visits had a great impact on my team. Renee and Stacia (both mothers) were especially moved by the children in the orphanages. They could have spent the entire day loving on the children!
The plaza meetings were very well attended. I counted at least 300 people at many of the plaza meetings.
I am still smiling over the man who came up to us in the plaza in Rio to share that he was in the same plaza 4 years ago and stopped to see Redeemer and sketchboard. He shared his life was changed because of hearing the Gospel message! He is now active in his church and mentoring other men. PRAISE GOD to see some of the fruit of your work!
And then to have this same man come back an hour later (to give us bottled water he bought) only to be there when we were praying over a crying man who thought his life was worthless. To see this new believer step in and talk with the crying man was powerful! God’s timing is incredible!
I have begun to pray about what God may have in store for me again in Brasil. Robert M.

A youth pastor writes to his church during a mission trip here (April, 2008):

This was an incredible day of ministry. Words cannot describe it. We did seven meetings… saw over 500 people raise their hands signifying that they had prayed to receive Christ today. These were adults, high school and middle high school students at school assemblies. We saw that they were authentically moved by the looks on their faces and the stories they told. One young woman tonight is hooked on drugs and is so tired of it that she wants to be free. We are getting her connected with a local church. A man came up tonight after our final campaign where we had 500 in attendance and said that he was tired of fighting God and was surrendering to Christ. This was the most incredible day of ministry I think I have ever experienced on all levels in 20 years of youth ministry… Keith M.

A teenager writes to us after a mission trip (April, 2008):

I had an amazing time getting to know ya’ll. It was a once in a lifetime experience! I loved hearing you both translate, and share the gospel. You have impacted my life in a very special way! Thank you both for following God’s calling for your life and fulfilling the Great Commission! I am truly blessed and honored to have met you both and to have been able to serve God with you!…Megan L.

Harvest at the schools!

E-mail Print PDF

The ministry in the schools continues as the big harvest field in the cities. Students of all ages have been reached by our programs, and the teachers too. In a city very close to Campinas (where we are based), when we arrived at a school to schedule meetings, the Directors said to us that the Directors of another school where we went one day before had talked with them about us. They didn’t call us because they didn’t have our phone number. So we could see that God was preparing everything! We arrived when they were looking for us!

The power of the Gospel!

We gave training in evangelism in a church in Campinas-SP, which was great. After it, as we always do, we went to downtown for the students to practice what they learned. It was very good! The students did a really great job. On this day in the plaza, where we could reach hundreds with many of them deciding for Christ, when I (Bruno – OAC staff) was preaching a man came from the crowd walking in my direction looking to my eyes, which made me a little worried because I didn’t know what he was going to do to me. So he began to speak, and crying he said that he was coming back to the Lord at that moment. He said that he was being destroyed by alcohol. So I told the crowd about the decision that he was making in that moment, and he knelt in front of me to pray to receive Jesus. After that, he got up and I put him next to me, and all the crowd were so impacted with what they just saw, that when I made the invitation, most of the crowd prayed with us to receive Jesus. I have no words to describe how my heart was seeing this. Praise Him!

Mission Trip to the Northeast of Brazil

E-mail Print PDF

We have been following the OAC motto, “Presenting Christ by all means everywhere,” until the ends of Brazil! In the very isolated villages, and in many Indian tribes, we have gone, reaching lost souls and helping local pastors and missionaries who work completely alone. Thanks, because you have been willing to be used by God as a vital part of the Great Commission of Christ.

We have just returned from a mission trip to the Northeast of Brazil where very isolated people live (more isolated than some Indian tribes). They don't have electricity or regular food (we ate armadillo, anteater, goat, drank rain water...). The big problem there is the dryness. Some people had to walk miles to get water to drink and to bathe, etc… We needed to take a shower in a basin, and use this water for other things. We were 100 miles to the closest hospital, 10 miles from a public telephone, and 60 miles from a supermarket. The earth roads were terrible.... big holes everywhere, rocks and sand. It was hard on our truck. The area was “Sertão Nordestino”.

Mission Trip to the Nambikwára & Pareci Tribes - Amazon

E-mail Print PDF

We want to share about an amazing mission trip to the southern region of Amazon reaching many Indians. It was two days driving from São Paulo. The pioneer missionary in these tribes came from Holland. Near the time for him to come to Brazil when he was 22 years old, he had a problem in his gums, and the dentist said to him that he needed to have treatment for 2 years. So he said that needed to come to Brazil as a missionary, and asked him for another way of treatment. He told him he could take out all his teeth. And he said yes! This determined missionary then came to the Amazon. In his first contact, the Indians were going to kill him, so he took out his false teeth and opened and shut them towards the Indians. They tried to do the same, and then came and bowed down before him. Now the Indians are peaceful, and he has done an amazing job there. He’s now around 80 years old.
